La Mancolona

Mejor conocida como La Mancolona. Es una comunidad que se ubica a 40 km al norte de Xpujil. La mayoría de su población tiene origen chiapaneco, en particular de la etnia tzeltal, chol y tzotzil. Fue reubicada hace algunas décadas porque se encontraba en un área que fue expropiada para la Reserva de la Biósfera Calakmul. Se caracteriza por conservar su lengua y recetas gastronómicas tradicionales adaptadas a su contexto geográfico.

El Centro Etnoecoturístico La Raíz del Futuro forma parte de Visit Calakmul, lo conforman 36 socios y socias, ofrece experiencias de contacto con la naturaleza de Calakmul y con la cultura tzeltal. Además, tienen disponibles pequeños talleres familiares de elaboración de piezas artesanales con elementos y/o inspiración de la selva maya de Calakmul.
