Plan and take the necessary precautions to enjoy your visit to Calakmul!
The weather in the Calakmul region is classified as warm sub humid. Is usually very hot, especially from May to September, so we recommend taking precautions such as carrying enough water to hydrate at all times, wear sunscreen and a hat.
If you travel by car, the available gas stations are located in the town of Xpujil, at the entrances arriving from Chetumal and from Escárcega, each with a convenience store and restrooms. Besides those, there are no other gas stations nearby in the area, so we recommend you get enough fuel for your trips around Calakmul.
To plan your visit to Calakmul, it is important to consider that as of today there are no banks in the area, and the closest ones are in Escárcega and Chetumal. If you want to withdraw money, there are only two ATMs in the center of the town of Xpujil; one in the mini super "Willys" and the other in the municipal palace.
To this date, most establishments do not accept cards (mainly in the communities), so we recommend you take enough cash.
